We are taking it day by day. However, we are postponing ALL group activities until May. This is not because we lack faith, but because we are balancing our faith with wisdom. God has our back in this. Pastor Gregg suggests that we all use this time of social distancing to grow deeper and closer in our relationships with God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. We are here -to talk -to pray -to listen -to share. We care!

Jesus Really Rose from the Dead?

Image
Is it Historically Verifiable that Jesus Really Rose from the Dead? Dale Chamberlain Crosswalk.com Contributing Writer 2020 23 Mar COMMENTS 0 Did Jesus really rise from the dead? As followers of Jesus, this is the most important question we could ever ask, as eternity hinges on the answer. If Jesus really did rise from the dead, then everything he said was true. He really is the Messiah and Savior of the world. He is God incarnate. He really is coming back to judge the living and the dead, and eternal life can only be found in him. But if Jesus didn’t really rise from the dead, then he’s just another failed revolutionary among the annals of history. He didn’t overthrow the Roman Empire, and he was gruesomely killed. He was a great moral teacher, but we certainly can’t put our  faith  in him. If Jesus died and stayed dead, then we need to look somewhere else for hope in this life and the next. So, if we are going to place our hope and trust in Jesus, we would do we

Prayer

“Prayer is as natural an expression of faith as breathing is of life.” Simply defined, prayer is communion and cooperation with God. It is through prayer that we approach the throne of God with our praises, thanks, confessions, and requests. The Bible requests and encourages believers to be devoted to prayer (Ephesians 6:18; Colossians 4:2; 1 Thessalonians 5:17; 1 Timothy 2:8).

Faith

Is My Faith Being Tested? Trials and tribulations test our faith. It’s easy to have faith when situations are comfortable but when challenges come…that’s when faith shows itself strong. “You’re facing a challenge that requires sacrifice.” Demonstrating faith requires a sacrifice. When God asked Abraham to sacrifice his son Isaac it required him to commit to what God was asking but to exercise faith along the journey. In this way God tests the heart to see if we are truly walking by faith or not. “Wrestling fear of the unknown.” God doesn’t always give us a play-by-play when He asks something of us. In most cases we have little to no information on what’s ahead. Forging ahead in faith, even in the midst of uncertainty, pleases God. “Tempted to go ‘back to Egypt’” This references the syndrome that the Israelites had once they were finally delivered from slavery in Egypt. When The Lord began to lead them into the wilderness, instead of relying on His providence and

What Are the Seven Seals and Trumpets in Revelation?

What Are the Seven Seals and Trumpets in Revelation? Hope Bolinger Crosswalk.com Contributing Writer 2020 12 Mar COMMENTS 0 Reminiscent of the  10 plagues  to fall on Egypt during the Exodus ( Exodus 7-11 ), a series of catastrophic events will take place during the End Days to enact the judgment of God upon the earth. Although Revelation does have more plagues than just the seven seals and seven trumpets (the seven bowls and the seven thunders—the latter of which John was not even allowed to write down their specific calamities:  Revelation 10:4 ), this article will cover the seals and trumpets. The article will discuss all 14 of these plagues, discuss the importance of the number seven in Scripture, and will cover why we should care about these events that will take place in Revelation. Number 7 in the Bible : Symbolism and Importance Number symbolism spans all of Scripture, and seven plays a particularly important role, especially in Revelation. Seven tends to

Tattoos

What Does the Bible Say about Tattoos? Obtaining a tattoo can spark gospel-centered conversation and act as a missional ice-breaker, but Christians without tattoos are identifiable without ink on their skin. It is all about the heart that declares Christ's name. Candice Lucey Contributing Writer “You will not make cuttings in your flesh, for the dead, nor print marks on you” ( Leviticus 19:28 ). Is this God’s final word on tattoos? What is the Lord talking about here? In this article we will consider the three parts of God’s law in  Leviticus 19:28  as it refers to tattoos: “cuttings in your flesh;” “for the dead;” and “print marks” to try and establish a biblical stance for Christians today. Cuttings in Your Flesh The  worship of Baal  has been dated to at least before the Exodus, making it contemporary with the time in which Moses was given the law. This Canaanite religion involved many rituals including self-mutilation. One ancient verse describes ritual masoch

GAY

What Do I Say When a Friend Comes Out as Gay? Hope Bolinger Crosswalk.com Contributing Writer 2020 21 Feb COMMENTS 9 Whether a close friend, family member, or coworker reveals that they are somewhere on the LGBTQ+ spectrum, Christians often can be at a loss on how to react.  The Christian church itself is split on the issue as to whether living an  LGBTQ+ lifestyle is a sin . And those who do believe it’s a sin may have varying reactions if a brother or sister in Christ claims to be LGBTQ+ and may act or not act upon their attraction to someone of the same sex. Furthermore, how do we draw a distinction in how to react to a believer who comes out as LGBTQ+ and a nonbeliever? Or should we make a distinction at all? I can’t claim to have the answers for  your  specific case involving a friend confiding in you that they are LGBTQ+. But I can–from personal experience and from Scripture–share a way to react well to when someone “comes out,” showing them the compassion and
