RESPECT

The more I deal with, the more expeirence I get, the more I respect and even trust many inmates in the COUNTY jail. Often, I even respect them more than a good portion of church folks. Why? Here are a few reasons: 1) At least 90% of them have some sort of addiction. 2) A majority of them got caught for the same thing you did today but you didn't get caught. 3) They tend not to be phoney, hidding behind their sin. 4) They want mercy and an escape of the consequences of their wrongs/sin, but they are often very open and transparent and willing to be held accountable. 5) Many of them say and admit that they have faults (not tongue-in-cheek like us) and want better lives and characters. 6) They are genuine when they say "I'm lost, hurt, and broken". 7) They are real. 8) They have more courage in their pinkies than most of us altogether. The list is endless. Do I see flaws in them and their characters? Absolutely. But do I also see a broken and lost people with an openes...

POWER

You of Little Faith! Pastor Gregg Crisp November 20, 2017 When I turn on a light switch I expect a light to come on. Right! I also know that the sun will rise every day. I may not see it, especially in Wyoming with the snow blowing sideward, but I know the sun is there. There is light even if I don’t see the source. So, do I just simply believe that a light will turn on or that the sun will rise? Or do I act on more than simple belief when I turn on that switch? I also have faith, right. I can believe all I want that a light will turn on when I hit that switch, but if I don’t actually hit the switch then I’ll remain in the dark. I need to engage the power before I get any light and drown out the darkness. The same is true with the Word of God. I can say I Believe in it all day. I can even read it and know it like the backside of my hand. But it does me little good unless I act upon it. It does me little good to simply believe it. I must take that Step of...

Anxious for Nothing

In this Q&A, Max Lucado (@MaxLucado) talks about his book, Anxious for Nothing: Finding Calm in a Chaotic World (Thomas Nelson, 2017). “POWERFUL” -Pastor Gregg, Next Steps Ministries Max Lucado: Anxiety disorders in the United States are the number one mental health problem among women and are second only to alcohol and drug abuse among men. Some say the United States is now the most anxious nation in the world. The land of the Stars and Stripes has become the country of stress and strife. This is a costly achievement. Stress-related ailments cost the nation $300 billion every year in medical bills and lost productivity, while our usage of sedative drugs keeps skyrocketing; just between 1997 and 2004, Americans more than doubled their spending on anti-anxiety medications like Xanax and Valium, from $900 million to $2.1 billion. The Journal of the American Medical Association cited a study that indicates an exponential increase in depression. People of each generation in ...
