Addiction

Saying that addiction is a disease is a copout and a huge way to excuse, justify, our addictions. It is blaming. It's not my "fault". Well, Yes it is your fault. You have a choice. And it is okay. The first step is to admit, acknowledge! Then you deal with the WHY! What are the UNDERLYING issues, that you are avoiding by using and staying stuck in your addiction? I've been there, done that. Now I'm not! But I had to trust God and deal with my underlying issues. Freedom comes when we are honest with ourselves, God, and others. We can experience New Life. 2 Corinthians 5:17.

Addiction doc says: It’s not the drugs. It’s the ACEs…adverse childhood experiences.   Jane Ellen Stevens 3 years ago He says: Addiction shouldn’t be called “addiction”. It should be called “ritualized compulsive comfort-seeking”. He says: Ritualized compulsive comfort-seeking (what traditionalists call addiction) is a  normal  response to the adversity experienced in childhood, just like bleeding is a normal response to being stabbed. He says: The solution to changing the illegal or unhealthy ritualized compulsive comfort-seeking behavior of opioid addiction is to address a person’s adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) individually and in group therapy; treat people with respect; provide medication assistance in the form of buprenorphine, an opioid used to treat opioid addiction; and help them find a ritualized compulsive comfort-seeking behavior that won’t kill them or put them in jail. This “he” isn’t some hippy-dippy new age dreamer. He is Dr. Daniel ...

Why Addiction Is Not a Disease:

Why Addiction Is Not a Disease: An Interview with Dr. Marc Lewis Author   Caroline McGraw Is addiction a disease or not? That’s one of the most pressing questions in addiction research and recovery today. On one hand, we have respected organizations such as the National Institutes of Health (NIH), which defines addiction as “a chronic and relapsing brain disease.” On the other hand, we have an emerging network of top psychologists, psychiatrists, and other medical professionals, including Dr. Marc Lewis, calling for a new definition. About Dr. Marc Lewis Dr. Marc Lewis  is a neuroscientist and recently retired full professo...

Here's the deal. You may not like me and that is okay. However, you had better love me. I will speak the Truth. I'll be blunt and to the point. Guess what, Christ was! And I'm working to become more like Him. If you're looking for someone to hold your hand and say "It will be okay. You go right ahead and keep falling, keep using, etc. Then I'm not your guy". I will ALWAYS speak the TRUTH, and sometimes it hurts, but TRUTH is Truth and a LIE is a LIE. You can't do both. I WILL NOT be ashamed of the Gospel or of anything from God. I will ALWAYS share the Truth, with BOLDNESS, with Bluntness, and yes I'm very OPINIONATED, but hopefully you'll see my love and heart through all I say and/or what I do. Guess what, if I were just passive with you and keep silent -then I don't really care. Guess what, I DO CARE and I don't want to hear about anyone going to hell because they weren't running the race (1 Corinthians 9). We are talking abou...
