Christmas has become way too commercial, retail orientated, money originated, lie orientated, etc. Santa may have been a nice story once. But that's all it is -a story -a lie. I'd be judged harshly by God, as a pastor, if I did not, do not share truth with you. Santa is a made up character -Serious? Flying reindeer, going down chimney's, etc. Santa, sorry, is fake! My bible say's "Do Not Lie". Santa is the world. Do not teach your kids it is okay to lie -ever, even for a good reason. Santa is mans holiday. My holiday: The Celebration of Christ's birth! Christmas can still be fun for kids, families, etc. Even more so when TRUTH is shared. We give to share and show our love to others, yes, absolutely! But our main reason for giving should be in remembrance of what Christ did -He Gave It All -Period! Hang and display lights -because they are pretty, yes! But to CELEBRATE CHRIST AND HIS BIRTH! EvidentChurch will not and does not celebrate Christmas as the world celebrates it -but rather as a Celebration of JESUS, period! Christmas can be fun -even when done for the right reason! Santa is FAKE, A LIE. He offers a false hope Jesus offers life and real Hope. John 8:32 New American Standard Bible 32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” Romans 1:25 For they exchanged the truth of God for falsehood, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. Mark 7:8 Neglecting the commandment of God, you hold to the tradition of men.”

At Evident Church, part of our mission is to heal, and empower, men and women that struggle with addiction (99% of us have an addiction). Our community believes that in every mistake, there is potential for healing. Nothing a person can do will close the door forever with God and with a loving and forgiving community- even if that person feels beyond  redemption , is put back in prison, or cannot find sobriety in this life. Our practice is simple: take a step back, apologize, make amends, learn something new, and move on. Once, a women relapsed after she had been working with Pastor Gregg for more than a year. During that time, she borrowed money she would never pay back. She stole from her friends and lied to them too. The damage to her relationships was like a tsunami of destruction. I believe great churches are built by broken people, ministering to other broken people. Brokenness is a willingness to abandon our pride, our pretensions, and our self-righteous posturing. And it is the prerequisite to God’s blessing on our lives and our congregations. Jesus said,  “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven”  (Matthew 5:3 NIV). When we reach the end of our rope and give up our self-sufficiency, that’s when God moves into our lives with healing and growth. Sin is addicting, and “all have sinned.” That means we’ve all created ungodly and unhealthy methods for handling life, so every church needs to have some form of a recovery ministry.
